My 2008 Toyota Rav4 engine was damaged beyond repair because of a missing engine oil filter (long story). Took it to Campus Car Garage and they checked it for free and told me that I needed a new engine. Gave me a couple of options (either an used engine from a salvage yard or a Jasper remanufactured engine which came with a 3-year, 100K miles warranty). We chose the latter and the engine cost $4800 and labour was $2766.50 before taxes. There were a few additional parts which made the total $8837.84, which was just below the $9000 estimate they had given me. I am not sure whether I made the right decision (to repair the car as opposed to ditching it and get something else) for myself but I didn't feel any pressure from the folks and they gave me all the time to decide. Their advise was that ideas worth repairing and our family was leaning that way too. All in all, very professional folks (led by the owner Eric and manager Charlie) and willing to answer your questions. I didn't know but they do oil changes too and will get my Toyota oil changes here in the future. (We have a newer Subaru under warranty and we take that to the dealer, but my wife used to take the Rav to JiffyLube.) Have driven the car about 1000 miles post-repair and have no complaints so far. Let's hope it stays that way! :)
