After moving out here a couple of years ago from the West Coast, I was looking for a garage that was trustworthy—the type of place that, when you don’t need work done, they tell you. I don’t mind paying for repairs that are necessary, but I want to deal with mechanics that have integrity, don’t oversell, and do solid work. I believe that I found that at Campus Garage. When I find mechanics that fit the bill, I am a very loyal customer. It takes time to establish that kind of trust, but I believe my first experience with campus garage is a good start. They cleaned my hybrid battery fan, which badly needed it. They were prompt and reasonably priced. I also got a discount for being an alumnus at Iowa State University. Suffice to say, I believe this is the start of a mutually beneficial business relationship.

This is the second time I’ve taken a vehicle to Campus Garage, and both experiences have been excellent. I really appreciate their straightforward, no-nonsense approach. They clearly explained what was wrong, what needed to be done, how long it would take, and what it would cost—no surprises. The work was high quality, completed quickly, and priced fairly. I’ll continue taking my vehicles to Campus Garage and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, reliable mechanic.

These guys are the best. I love that they always provide free estimates and that the work cost is consistently within 10% of that estimate. Beyond that, the work is completed on time with a professionalism resulting in success 100% of the time I have asked them to take on a project. I highly recommend these guys!!!!

Fair assessment and price, esp after being lied to by another garage that over estimated repairs and lied about unnecessary work. Convenient location.

Friendly and excellent at doing a great job. I took my car in at 7:30 AM, and it was ready before noon, the same day. I also was surprised that they offered the ISU fan club discount. I will definitely return in the future if I need to have my car repaired. I will highly recommend them to others who are looking for quality work.

In the over a decade Ive been in Ames, Ive taken my car here a handful of times instead of taking my vehicle to the VW dealership and Ive had great experiences every time!

I've taken my car here twice now. They do a free diagnostic on your car to figure out what is wrong, and are reasonably priced. They aren't cheap by any means, but they're not out to rob anyone either. So they will likely have the best deal compared to the competition. Service is very professional and friendly. There was no up selling which I really appreciated. Just a diagnostic of what was wrong and a quote on how much it would cost to fix. They did nothing until I confirmed them to work. Their estimate both times were a little higher than I actually paid. I highly recommend them. They are smaller, and busier than most places (because they're honest and do a great job) so I would advise making an appointment and expect to wait a few days. I plan on bringing my business to them whenever I can.
